YOGA
In addition to unforgettable memories of the Algarve and new experiences in water sports, we also want to provide you with something that will help you bridge the gap until your next surfing or kitesurfing session. Yoga and Pilates are a great choice to bring your body, mind, and soul into harmony. Many water sports professionals like Kelly Slater (11-time surf champion), Kristine Boese (9-time kiteboard champion), and Laird Hamilton (big wave surf legend) have discovered yoga and Pilates as optimal balance training.
Improve your strength, flexibility, coordination, and balance
Not only will you improve your strength, flexibility, coordination, balance, and lung capacity, but the exercises and techniques will also help you achieve increased calmness in stressful situations and promote faster recovery and injury prevention after an exhausting session on the water.
In every camp offer, there is daily yoga included! Every day of the week there are scheduled 2 yoga classes by the pool.
ASHTANGA YOGA
Ashtanga Yoga is a dynamic and flowing yoga practice that combines breath and movement. Traditional Ashtanga Yoga follows the same sequence and series of asanas in a precise order, allowing the body to realign and detoxify. Similar to other vinyasa forms, Ashtanga Yoga is based on sun salutations and is often referred to as a gymnastic practice. The first sequence, known as the Primary Series, focuses on building foundational strength and flexibility, including forward bends, twists, and hip openers.
The breath is counted, so all students flow through the sequence at the same pace. The teacher may also make adjustments and provide verbal instructions to help students in their alignment and understanding of each asana. One of the main goals of Ashtanga Yoga is to maintain a consistent practice, whether you’re having a good, challenging, or anything-in-between day. Roll out your mat and let your breath guide you, finding meditation in your movement.
Immerse yourself in the world of Ashtanga Yoga and experience the physical and mental benefits of this powerful practice. Allow yourself to be inspired by the rhythmic breath and the flowing dance of the asanas as you embark on a personal journey of physical strength, flexibility, and inner peace.
VINYASA YOGA
Vinyasa translates to “flowing breath” and has its roots in Ashtanga Yoga. Vinyasa is a much more accessible yoga practice for beginners as it does not follow a prescribed sequence and allows the instructor to determine the level of the class through varied sequences. It exposes you to many fundamental poses, providing a general overview of yoga asanas or body postures.
Vinyasa Yoga is also a great workout and improves energy levels while promoting relaxation and reducing stress. Through the flowing movements synchronized with the breath, you experience increased physical and mental strength. It is a dynamic and powerful practice that strengthens the body, builds flexibility, and enhances concentration.
In our Vinyasa Yoga classes, you will be guided to connect with your breath as you flow through a diverse sequence of poses. Each class is unique and adapts to the needs and abilities of the participants. You will be supported in exploring your own limits and progressing in a playful manner.
