We welcome kids, first-timers, and progression riders alike: by the end of your lesson block you’ll be comfortably sailing both up-wind and down-wind, tacking and gybing with control, and even taking your first steps into harness work or beach and water starts—all in the safest beginner spot on Portugal’s Algarve coast.
Windsurfing lessons for all the levels

Beginner windsurf lessons
Perfect for ages 10 and up, and ideal for first-timers, these lessons take place in the waist-deep, flat waters of Alvor Lagoon. Our kid-sized sails and extra-stable boards make it easy to grasp steering, upwind riding, and basic turns within minutes. Parents love the safety boat on standby, while young riders leave their very first session confident and smiling.

Intermediate windsurf lessons
Already comfortable in a harness or dabbling with your first jibes? We’ll fine-tune foot-strap work, carve gybes, and controlled planing so you can tackle stronger Nortada winds. Video feedback and modern freeride sails accelerate progress.

Advanced windsurf lessons
Ready to jump, duck jibe, or step onto a foil? Our performance rigs and dedicated foil boards let advanced riders push boundaries under expert guidance—whether you aim for airtime or effortless hovering above the chop.

Why Learn on Alvor Lagoon?
You’ll master windsurfing on Ria do Alvor Lagoon, just a few minutes from our Lagos base. This wide, waist-deep stretch of flat, warm water is a dream classroom: kid-sized sails feel light, beginners can stand up anywhere, and progression riders have acres of space to practise harness work and gybes. Our VDWS-certified instructors meet you there daily with modern boards and rigs perfectly matched to the conditions.
From May to August, the famous Nortada thermal wind builds each afternoon to a steady 15–25 knots, making Alvor the best windsurf spot in the Algarve for every level. Gentle in the morning for youngsters and first-timers, punchier later for planing and freestyle practice—this natural wind machine delivers reliable sessions day after day.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Our Always-Action Guarantee means you’ll never lose a day: choose to reschedule or swap into surfing, SUP, or wakeboarding at no extra charge if conditions aren’t safe or windy enough.
Much easier than most people expect—especially on Alvor Lagoon. Flat, waist-deep water and lightweight sails mean you’ll typically sail 5–10 m in a straight line within the first 30 minutes; many students tack and gybe by the end of a single three-hour session.
No. Modern rigs are light, and technique beats muscle; children, teens, and adults of average fitness succeed quickly. If you can swim confidently and carry a school backpack, you’re fit enough to windsurf with us.
Beginner and kids’ classes launch in the calmer morning breeze; intermediate and advanced groups ride the stronger thermal wind after lunch. Each lesson block lasts about three hours, including shoreline briefing and water time.
Yes. Our private and semi-private lessons accept kids 6 +. They sail on child-sized rigs in waist-deep water with a rescue boat on standby and a parent on shore or in the group. For group courses, the minimum age is 10 years.
